An Inner Calling to Serve
My heartfelt gratitude goes to Sadguru Sri Madhusudan Sai for the selfless work being carried out across more than 100 countries, including my own country, Guatemala, in the spirit of the One World One Family Mission. My journey began with a sincere inner calling to be part of a path rooted in love and service. Although acts of charity had always been present in my life, this mission brought a deeper sense of purpose, not just helping randomly each month, but finding a place where support was genuinely needed and where service could be offered with sincerity and dignity.
Guided to Aldea El Oregano
At that time, the direction was not fully clear to me, but I trusted that guidance would come. That guidance led me to Aldea El Oregano — a small rural village in the municipality of Huehuetenango, a community located near a garbage landfill where many families survive by collecting and sorting waste. Parents often rely on their children to work alongside them just to earn enough for daily survival. There is a small school in the area where the principal and teachers sacrifice part of their own salaries so that children can at least have something to eat, as the limited government support is far from enough.
When I learned about their dedication, I felt strongly that this was where service under the One World One Family Mission should begin.
Growing Through Service
This journey has challenged me deeply, pushing me beyond comfort, pride, fear, and low self-esteem. By nature, I am more spontaneous than organised, yet this commitment required planning, responsibility, consistency, and the courage to speak up. Over time, I found myself leading with conviction, not because fear disappeared, but because love became stronger.
Witnessing the struggles and discrimination faced by families in this community strengthened my resolve to continue. Providing monthly provisions became more than an act of charity; it became a way of reminding people that they are valued, loved, and not forgotten. The service is not about religion or politics, but about expressing universal love, the very essence of the One World One Family Mission.
Restoring Dignity, Nurturing Hope
What once seemed like a small gesture has grown into a sacred offering that restores dignity, heals emotional wounds, and nurtures hope. A small group remains actively engaged in this service, and by divine grace it continues month after month. There are also many quiet contributors who serve silently in their own ways, reflecting the deeper spirit of selfless action.
Transformation Through Consistent Love
This journey has revealed that transformation does not begin with grand actions but with the willingness to show up consistently with love. Through the grace and inspiration of Sadguru Sri Madhusudan Sai and the vision of the One World One Family Mission, service has become a path of inner growth, courage, and a deeper understanding of the oneness shared by all humanity.
