Educates an orphaned child for a month

Active since: 2024
One World One Family Mission is active in Malawi through the One World One Family Foundation Malawi, supporting children, young people and communities through nutrition, education, healthcare, environmental initiatives and practical community service. The work combines essential support with programmes that strengthen education, health, empowerment and resilience.
Here are a few ways in which we serve

Basic healthcare services are provided through the education centres. Health awareness campaigns on TB, HIV/AIDS and COVID-19 are delivered through schools, clubs and radio, reaching thousands of people. Youth peer educators help improve knowledge, encourage healthier communities and reduce stigma around important health issues.

Free education is provided through 3 centres in different regions of Malawi, with breakfast also provided to children and surrounding communities. The programmes aim to expand access to education while supporting children's health and development.
The impact of this support can be seen in improved educational outcomes, with Mwandama Primary School achieving a 100% pass rate. Partnerships with the Malawi Ministries of Education and Health, USAID, NDI, the Wildlife Society of Malawi and local councils further strengthen education, health, youth empowerment and environmental initiatives.

Schoolchildren in Zomba, Dowa and Nkhatabay receive fortified porridge at school, helping provide nourishment while supporting school attendance and learning. Vulnerable children also receive weekend meals.
Nutrition campaigns and food fortification training help communities strengthen their understanding of nutrition while building resilience and preparedness for difficult circumstances.

WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) programmes bring safe water access to schools and villages, hygiene training for students and communities, and menstrual health education for girls. Community support efforts also bring food, clothing and dignity packs to the elderly, and rapid relief for disaster-affected households.

Environmental initiatives focus on climate resilience and community participation. More than 10,000 trees have been planted in schools and villages, supported by youth volunteers through clean-up drives and climate clubs. These activities encourage young people to take an active role in caring for their environment while helping communities build resilience to climate change.
One World One Family Foundation Malawi supports the Mission's work through youth-led programmes and community initiatives.

One World One Family Foundation Malawi is a youth-led, independent, non-governmental and non-profit organisation. Established in 2014 under its original name, the organisation joined the One World One Family Mission in 2024.
The Foundation works to build the capacity of young people and create opportunities for vulnerable and marginalised youth, children and women. Its work spans nutrition, healthcare, education, research, environmental sustainability, good governance and youth empowerment, with a focus on developing skills, creating opportunities and strengthening inclusive social development.
