Active since: 2016
One World One Family Mission is active in Sri Lanka through the Sri Sathya Sai Karuna Nilayam Foundation, offering free nutrition, healthcare and community support, particularly in the Batticaloa area. The mission has taken root in a region that has endured decades of civil war and the 2004 tsunami. A large donated site is home to the Sri Sathya Sai Karunalayam Medical Centre and the Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Super Specialty Hospital, providing free care to communities in the Eastern Province.
How we serve
Here are a few ways in which we serve
Nutrition

Through the Feed the World initiative, food parcels are delivered door-to-door, free of charge, to elderly, children and differently-abled individuals in the village several times each week. Daily breakfast supplements are provided to children at Dharmapuram School in Batticaloa, improving health, attendance and learning. Meals and essential-item packs are also provided to expecting mothers without access to sufficient resources, and ration donations have supported families during times of crisis.
Health

The Sri Sathya Sai Karunalayam Medical Centre and Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Super Specialty Hospital in Batticaloa provide consultations and treatment entirely free of charge. The hospital houses the first state-of-the-art Cath Lab facility in the Eastern Region of Sri Lanka, with procedures conducted in collaboration with doctors from the Batticaloa Teaching Hospital. Paediatric cardiac surgical missions are regularly hosted. Outpatients are treated at the Karunalayam Medical Centre, while the Sanjeevani Hospital provides cath interventions.
Community Support

A Women's Programme equips women with income-enhancing skills in baking and food preparation, building confidence and financial independence. Vocational training is offered in practical skills such as caregiving and hospital support services, with some participants gaining employment at the Karunalayam Medical Centre and Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospital, helping them build sustainable livelihoods with dignity. Dharmapuram School is supported with ongoing improvements including playground equipment, toilet block upgrades, school bags, stationery and shoes. Nutrition awareness sessions are conducted for mothers and pregnant women, while teacher training and human values seminars support students, teachers and parents in rural schools. Youth volunteers teach English, social skills and arts to children in Haputale, helping to build confidence and expression. In Colombo, support includes lunches for schoolchildren without access to sufficient resources, and visits to the elderly and children with special needs to share joy and companionship. Support extends to rural schools and homes for children with mental disabilities, including infrastructure, education, sanitation and kitchen upgrades. Relief packs are given during floods and also to cancer patients at Maharagama Hospital.
