They’re missing out on the basic tools of future making
You see children everywhere with the same hope in their eyes.
A chance to learn.
A chance to grow.
A chance to rise.
Yet millions of children in Nigeria still stay out of school. Many live in rural communities where safe, nurturing learning spaces are rare. Without support, these children miss out on the basic tools they need to shape their future.
This is why the Embodiment of Love Academy, known as TELA, matters.
You find TELA in a quiet corner of Enugu State. It began in 2012 with a simple thought from Father Charles Ogada. Give every child a place where learning comes with dignity, care, and strong values. Offer everything free of charge. Remove the barriers that hold a child back.
Today, 1,080 children walk through TELA’s gates each morning. Three out of four come from families facing economic hardship. Yet they learn with confidence because someone believed they deserved the same opportunities as any child in the world.
TELA blends strong academics with character formation. Students grow through five domains: spiritual, academic, environmental, social, and creative. They learn to reason, to reflect, and to serve. Modern classrooms, ICT labs, libraries, and a large auditorium give them learning spaces that build pride and purpose.
You meet students who speak about their goals with clarity. One wants to become a doctor to serve nearby villages. Another wants to teach children who feel forgotten. These dreams grow because TELA offers more than subjects on a timetable.
Skills that open real opportunities
The TELA Skills Acquisition Centre prepares students for the world beyond school.
Every student trains in at least one trade by the time they graduate.
They learn carpentry, welding, plumbing, or solar installation. They build skills in web design, computer graphics, photography, garment making, or catering. These are practical, income-earning skills that allow young people in rural Nigeria to support their families.
The aim is simple. Give young people the ability to stand on their own feet. Help them support their communities. Show them that their talents have value.
More than 2,400 students have already benefited from TELA since its start. Many now work in trades, run small businesses, or continue higher studies. Their progress shows what becomes possible when a child receives care, structure, and a sense of belonging.

Why this matters today
Nigeria has one of the youngest populations in the world. A child without education risks a future without choices. But a child with education gains the power to lift an entire community.
TELA stands as a place where unity becomes real. Support has come from people across nations who believe that a child in Nigeria deserves the same chance as a child anywhere else. This is the heart of One World One Family. Your actions in one corner of the world can uplift another.
So you might ask yourself:
How many leaders can emerge when one school opens its doors with love?
How many futures can shift when children grow up knowing they matter?
TELA shows that change begins with one child at a time. And with people who care enough to act.
